actually, many cat shark species are bioflourescent

this means that they absorb the blue wavelength of natural light and re-emit it as a very faint ectocooler-green glow that makes them look like a wandering shark wraith seeking vengeance.

the effect is very dim and mostly lost on humans, but cat sharks have very very VERY good dark vision, so for them the lighting effect works like a giant neon billboard stating HEY! I AM ALSO A CAT SHARK, AND I AM OVER HERE!
