Bucky works his way through modern music with 1) Sarah’s old mixes and CDs, 2) cheapest records at the thrift shop, 3) all 89 Now That’s What I Call Musics, and 4) AJ and Cass’s 2025 weird kid on the internet music that’s like kpop trap deathcore theme songs for animes Bucky doesn’t understand, resulting in a musical taste politely called eclectic and more accurately referred to as a wedding reception with five DJs who all fucking hate each other

Where is Sam’s influence in this? It is in the negative space. Sam is like “I’m begging you. I have music recommendations, I have an extensive record collection, I have so many cds and tapes and speakers with which to listen to them. I can fix you.” and Bucky is like “I keep a list of your recommendations so I can go out of my way to avoid them” because this musical psychological warfare gives them something to fight about and that’s very important for their friendship.
The first time they have sex? Passionate, romantic, tender, vulnerable, intimate, frightening in the way that change always is, even change you want, like crossing the rubicon from familiar unhappiness to unknown joy, connection, love.
The second time they have sex they don’t have sex because they derail the whole night with an argument about each other’s prepared sex music playlist
